CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say a dozen people face DWI charges after an overnight checkpoint on Wilkinson Boulevard.
Of those charged with driving while impaired, three were under the age of 21, police said early Saturday.
The checkpoint was set up along the 5800 block of Wilkinson and ran from 11 p.m. Friday until about 3:30 a.m. Saturday.
In all, police issued nearly 90 charges, including:
• DWI: 12
• Driving with license revoked: 13
• No operators license: 9
• Open container of alcohol: 3
• Drug charges: 11
• Outstanding warrants: 1
• Other traffic charges and citations: 40
CMPD said three other agencies assisted with the checkpoint: Mint Hill police, UNC Charlotte police and Mecklenburg County ABC law enforcement.
