CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police continue their ongoing crackdown against internet sweepstakes businesses.

Officers raided the Game Room on North Graham Street on Thursday. For the first time since the crackdown began made two arrests.

Steven Harrington, 39, was charged with felony gambling and alcohol violations.  Angel Stephenson, 22, was charged with misdemeanor gambling.

Investigators say they found machines that contained the games of poker, bingo, and keno in which players placed bets to receive a payoff.

That’s illegal in North Carolina. Police seized several machines and more than 6,700 in cash.

Despite the raid the parlor was open for business on Friday.
