Driver strikes pedestrians at Concord polling place

CONCORD, N.C. – A driver struck three people outside of a Concord polling place.

It happened around 10:30 Tuesday morning in the parking lot of Center United Methodist Church in the 1100 block of Union Street South.

Officials say the driver of the minivan was moving in reverse when she hit the victims and a parked vehicle.

Two of the victims are in critical condition, while the third has non-life threatening injuries. They were taken to CMC Northeast.

Police are interviewing the driver, identified as 79-year-old Fay Griffin.

Charges were not filed.

Voting operations are continuing as normal.
