CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sunday Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utility Department (CMUD) crews worked to repair a leaking sewer pipe.

Officials said the leak is near Crown Lake Drive in Cornelius.  Some 330 gallons of sewage seeped into Lake Norman.  Crews said as of yet no dead fish were discovered with the overflow.

In a press release sent to media outlets CMUD touted that they “maintain 4,047 miles of wastewater pipe.”  Representatives with CMUD said that charges from monthly water bills help to fund "preventative maintenance" on emergency response.

"We need your help to control the cost of providing service -protecting public health and the environment -- by reporting any sewer problems to 311 at any time," Said Cam Coley, spokesperson for CMUD.

The leak discovered at Crown Lake Drive was discovered by CMUD crews.
