CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Most people don’t buy a cell phone without getting a protective case, but what if that case didn’t work because it was counterfeit.

Agents with the Secretary of State’s Office found a major supply of fake phone accessories at a west Charlotte warehouse.

“They make them so good that you think you have the real merchandise,” said an undercover Alcohol Law Enforcement Agent.

He was involved in the raid on Ocean Trading Company located at 3311 Griffith Street. Agents found more than $230,000-worth of counterfeit cell phone cases and other accessories.

"When you put the Apple on there, the part that becomes the trademark, violators are not allowed to sell," said the Agent.

Although agents visited the business last Thursday, they have not made any arrests yet. NBC Charlotte knocked on the door to talk to management about the raid but the people inside closed the blinds and refused to come to the door.

Agents say that people who are looking for a good deal could be disappointed if they have to count on one of these fake cases because the quality is not the same.

"Then when you drop it or get it wet you realize this is not what I thought I bought," said the agent.

“If you look at the criminal aspect of it, these people are making money off something that is not theirs.”
