CLEVELAND COUNTY, N.C. -- A boat went up in flames while it was docked on Moss Lake.
The Oak Grove Fire Department tells NewsChannel 36 the boat was docked on a private dock when a fire somehow sparked in the engine.
Officials say the boat had a quarter tank of gas in the tank when the blaze began, the fire department was able to extinguish the fire.
No one was injured, and the fire was ruled accidental.
Fire officials say boat fires are not common in Cleveland County. They’re encouraging everyone to inspect their boats thoroughly before getting on the water.
