CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officers say that two women foiled a robbery at a Bojangles fast food restaurant along 4100 block of Statesville Road.

Officers say that 23-year-old Nikki Curtis walked in Sunday night around 8:40 and demanded money.

"Went up to the counter reached across the counter, grabbed the cashier and made a demand for money," said Captain Rod Golding of CMPD's North Division.

The manager and her sister, who is also an employee, fought back. The two women subdued Curtis, disarmed her, and held her until police arrived.

"That was a brave idea for them to fight the lady back because she could have cut them," said customer Tequila Brown.

Police tend to discourage victims from fighting back because it increases the odds they will get hurt.

"I'm impressed that the employees had the type of loyalty to a co-worker that they would jump in and help her," said the captain.

Curtis has been charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon; her bond has been set at $50,000.
