CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. -- Samaritan’s Purse volunteers are spending the weekend helping storm victims clean up.

About 20 volunteers are in Collettsville, where a microburst last Friday caused five to seven inches of rain in a short amount of time, local flooding and brought down several trees.

Ruth McGee lives on highway 90 in Collettsville.  Flood waters re-routed the creek in her yard and brought 12 inches of rain into her house.

Crews spent the day helping her clean up the mud and remove downed trees.

Samaritan’s Purse Manager Tim Haas says the rain caused mud slides, unearthed creek beds and washed out culverts.

McGee says she’s fortunate the flooding did not cause structural damage to her home.
