INDIAN TRIAL, N.C. –- The Carolina Waterfowl Rescue is asking for help after storms damaged their newly set up rescue property in Indian Trail.

Sunday night storms swept through damaging cages and injuring birds already checked in for rehabilitation.

On their Facebook page, officials posted pictures showing over turned cages and a flock of corralled birds in a temporary cage.

Over the weekend volunteers helped the organization get settled into their new location in Indian Trail, hours later storms ripped apart the temporary sanctuary they’d created.

In an email asking for the public’s assistance, an official said the peacock’s cage was completely destroyed.  The bird was spooked and took off running during the peak of the storm.

Monday at 10 a.m. they plan to re-build the bird cages and clean up.  The Carolina Waterfowl Rescue is located on Poplin Road.
