CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte Fire Department is investigating an overnight house fire in east Charlotte.
Fire fighters responded to a home on Lake Forest Road near Albemarle Road around midnight Wednesday.
Fire officials say when the smoke detector went off, the family discovered a fire in one of the bedrooms.
Three people and their three dogs made it out of the home safely.
No one was hurt.
The Red Cross is helping the family with a temporary place to live.
