CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Saturday morning DNC officials announced the winner of the poster contest via their website.

Here’s what officials had to say about the winner:

“Last year, the 2012 Democratic National Convention put out a call for artists and designers to create a poster to be selected as one of the official posters for the convention.

With nearly 400 submissions and over 26,000 votes, the engagement and excitement around this contest has been overwhelming. And, I couldn't be more pleased to announce that you have selected a winner from right here in Charlotte.

Congratulations, Steve Ward! Watch as Ward was surprised with the announcement.

Steve Ward is an instructor of digital design at York Technical College and he earned his degree in graphic design from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. His poster "Urban Unity" represents his love of Charlotte by using the skyline and with clasping hands show the importance for people to come together for a common cause."
