ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Rock Hill police have arrested a woman that officers say kept her three children in squalid conditions.
Misty Williford, 34, has been charged with two counts of unlawful conduct toward a child.
Last week officers were called out to 2323 Brookview Court to assist DSS.
"There was animal feces throughout the entire apartment, there were piles of clothes, just dirty clothes in every room, and on top of the clothes were feces and urine," said Captain Mark Bollinger.
In the police report, officers describe the smell as sickening.
Williford is the mother of three sons, ages 9, 7 and 4. Neighbors say they often see them outside unattended.
"It's been that way for a while. It's very dangerous. You have to constantly watch your children nowadays. This is not safe," said a neighbor, who did not want to be identified.
"I just hope that the children can somehow get a better chance, whether because she comes around and does that or whether somebody comes around and gives them a better life."
If convicted, Williford could get a maximum of ten years in prison. It will be up to DSS to determine if she gets her kids back.
