ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Twenty people were forced from their homes Friday night after an apartment fire ripped through eight units.

Saturday, Red Cross volunteers received an outpouring of donations at the apartment complex’s club house.

Those families impacted by the fire will be able to celebrate Christmas with gifts from complete strangers.

People dropped off clothes and toys at the clubhouse, and one family donated eight Christmas trees.

One of the fire victims who lost everything was emotional as he accepted the donations.

“You can appreciate everybody's best wishes, especially for Christmas. I mean this is what Christmas is really all about,” said John Melo.

No one was hurt in the fire. The cause is still under investigation.
