CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Family of seven-year-old Samiyah Brown tell NBC Charlotte she remains in very serious condition.
A rescue team pulled Samiyah from a creek in southwest Charlotte Thursday. She and several others were playing when friends say she slipped into the water. Her 11-year-old brother, Randez, jumped in to try to save her. He passed away from his injuries early Friday morning.
Family members tell us, hospital officials are working on measures to prevent Samiiyah’s brain from swelling. According to family members, Samiyah responds to their voices by moving her hands.
They are asking the community to pray for Samiyah’s recovery.
