MINT HILL, N.C. – Firefighters were feverishly trying to douse the flames of a fire that consumed a home on Dogwood Ridge Drive.

The fire sparked around 9:00 p.m. Saturday night, around midnight crews remained on the scene.

Firefighters told newsm media they had trouble getting water to the home.

"We were assigned a system of water supply and man power. The water supply was a short distance away. Obviously the house is pretty burned up," said Captain John Frame of Midland Fire Department.

Midland and Charlotte fire departments were called in to help Mint Hill firefighters.

One person lived inside the home, and no one was injured.  Neighbors tell NewsChannel 36 they saw a bolt of lightning before the fire started.

“There was a boom,” said Ruben Filimonczuk.

“We were watching a movie and you could feel the electricity on the floor. I was a little spooked,” he said.

Filimonczuk said he and others will help their neighbor who lost everything in the fire.

There is no official word on what caused the fire.
