CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Protesters hit the streets of uptown Charlotte on Satruday to call for the end of the Federal Reserve.

A group called “Americans Against the Federal Reserve" organized the protest.

Their message is that the Federal Reserve has too much power over U.S. national currency.  The group says the "Fed" operates in secrecy.

“What we want to do is allow Congress, our government, to see what they're doing. Because if the Federal Reserve isn't accountable to Congress, if Congress doesn't have control and our government doesn’t have control over the Federal Reserve then who does?” said Dainel Rufty who organized the protest.

There are 12 Federal Reserve bank branches in the U.S. including the one on Trade Street in uptown Charlotte.
