CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- One person was killed after an accident on Interstate 485 Sunday afternoon.
According to the Highway Patrol, Catalina Cruz, 35, was killed after merging onto I-485 when she over corrected and another vehicle slammed into her driver’s side door around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The Charlotte Fire Department and Medic said Cruz died at the scene. Another person was treated at the scene with what paramedics described as non-life-threatening injuries.
NewsChannel 36 crews say traffic was back up at least three miles on the inner loop during the time of the crash.
Troopers tell NewsChannel 36 speed was a factor in the crash.
