LINCOLNTON, N.C. – Police have arrested a 16-year-old after the juvenile took a fake hand grenade to school on Friday.
Officials say the teen attended North Lincoln High School and is facing a misdemeanor count of perpetrating a hoax using a false bomb.
According to detectives, the teen had the device in his backpack. It wasn’t until another student told a teacher that the resource officer was alerted to the situation.
School Resource Deputy Stephen Edwards noticed that the pin had been removed and the inside of the grenade had been cleaned out.
The teen was placed under a $5,000 secured bond.
