MATTHEWS, N.C. -- The Make-A-Wish foundation surprised 9-year-old Alanna Bhargava with a the bedroom of her dreams Tuesday.
"It was exactly like what I wanted except better, because I never expected something as wonderful as creative as this," says Alanna.
Alanna and her family returned from vacation early Tuesday morning but she wasn't allowed to go into her room.
She was told she had to wait until 10:00 a.m. to enter her bedroom.
When she walked through the doors, she saw what she said was the surprise of a lifetime.
It was a room just the way she wanted it, down to the colors on the wall.
"It has my two favorite colors, like pink and green," she says.
Alanna's room was given to her by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The 9-year-old was born with a heart condition. She had a heart transplant at just 9-months-old and now suffers with other life threatening conditions and takes a number of medicines for her condition, some of which have taken a toll on the little girl.
"That’s what we're dealing with right now, the toxicity from the medicines has affected her kidneys," says her mother Ashley.
With the help of Broyhill and Furnitureland South, new furniture from a new bed and chairs to a desk and drawers are in Alana's bedroom. Faux and More designed her walls, complete with her favorite fairies and other designs like trees and stars.
"She had a vision of what she wanted and this is it," says her father Ami. "The whole experience is humbling."
