CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A college football fan is in critical condition after falling from a ramp at Bank of America Stadium to the lawn below during the ACC Championship game.

Charlotte-Meckenburg Police identified the man as Sean Michael Powers, 22, of New Port Richey, Florida.

Police said Powers was walking up the ramp to find his seat when he fell around 8 p.m.  The section of ramp he fell from is about 30 - 40 feet above the ground outside the stadium, near the back by the players' entrance.

A view of the ramp from the street shows an open area with a railing about chest-high.

Powers was rushed to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Homicide detectives are investigating the fall, but said in a statement that it looked like an accident.

They couldn't say whether alcohol was involved.

This year's ACC matchup pitted Florida State University against Georgia Tech.
