CONCORD, N.C. – The Concord Police Department is investigating a fatal accident after an Amtrak train collision killed a man.
According to the Police Department the incident happened around 5:40 p.m. Friday afternoon. Investigators on the scene tell NewsChannel 36 it appears that a white male was trying to cross the tracks when he was struck and killed.
NewsChannel 36 has learned the Amtrak train was filled with 108 passengers. According to Chris Cole, Spokesman for Amtrak, no passengers or crew were injured during the crash.
The train was heading from Raleigh to Charlotte. The man’s identity has not been released.
