SALISBURY, N.C. -- The biological mother of Erica Parsons said she has no idea why Erica's adoptive parents packed up a moving truck and left Salisbury Tuesday.

"I'm a little bit baffled.  I am a little bit confused," said Carolyn Parsons, who had given up Erica for adoption as an infant.

Sandy and Casey Parsons loaded furniture and other belongings into a rented truck and after several hours, left their Salisbury home driving east.

They finally stopped in the Fayetteville area.  A family member who did not want to be named said he thought they were staying with a friend of another, older daughter.

Carolyn Parsons said she wanted to talk to NBC Charlotte because she felt the attention needed to be focused on finding Erica.

"It is not about Casey and Sandy," she said. "It is about the little girl."

Carolyn said she wondered why the adoptive parents were moving and why they had never made a public plea for Erica.

Carlyle Sherrill, the attorney for the Sandy and Casey, said they have cooperated and want to do everything to find Erica.

Asked why they were moving, Sherrill said they were tired of the attention and tired of TV crews that have been staking out their house.

Carolyn said she was only doing what she thought best or Erica when she gave her up for adoption.  She added that she hoped the day would come when she could say to Erica, in person, "I've always loved you and I always will."
