MONROE, N.C. -- Monroe police arrested a mother and father in a Monroe motel after their infant son was found with several bruises.
The investigation started on Friday at the Quality Inn on West Roosevelt Boulevard, after police received a call that the 11-month-old had been assaulted.
A guest at the hotel said another guest called police about the injuries.
Officers found the baby boy with bruises on his face, neck and head. He was taken to CMC in Charlotte, where police said he was in good condition Saturday.
Officials charged the baby's mother, Amber Christine Jones, 24, with felony child abuse. Officials say she was also in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. She is in the Union County Jail under a $5,000 secured bond.
The baby's father, Danny Lee Tackett, 28, was also charged with felony child abuse, and outstanding warrants in Mecklenburg County. He’s in the Union County Jail under $50,000 bond for the child abuse charge, and no bond for the others.
Mecklenburg County jail records show Tackett was arrested three times in the last two years for various charges, including two charges for assault on a female.
Tackett and Jones have a Charlotte address.
They are suppose to make their first court appearance in Union County on December 20th.
