The wreckage of a plane from North Carolina was discovered Friday night in south central Colorado, a day after it disappeared from radar in mountainous terrain.
There were no survivors, reports The Pueblo Chieftain in Colorado.
It isn’t immediately clear exactly where in North Carolina the plane was from or who was on board.
The plane landed in Pueblo, Colo., on Thursday and then took off on a southern, then westerly track, authorities said. A distress beacon was later picked up by satellite, and authorities sent a search team into the mountains.
Rescuers found the wreckage Friday night. The Pueblo Chieftain reports the crash happened at an altitude of 12,400 feet.
It’s unclear what caused the plane to crash.
