MATTHEWS, N.C. – Officials are investigating two house fires they say were intentionally set on Sunday.
The first was a brush fire near the intersection of Campus Ridge Road and CPCC. Officials say the fire burned less than a half acre of vacant land.
Fire crews went back to the scene on Monday because the land continues to smolder.
The second fire was started at a vacant house at 2925 Pleasant Plains Road.
“We do not know if both fires were set by the same person/people but both were deliberately set. An investigation is underway with the Town and the Mecklenburg County Fire Marshal’s Office,” commented Matthews Fire & EMS Chief Dennis Green.
Anyone with information regarding either fire is asked to the Matthews Police Department at 704-847-4069.
