ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Police have cited the driver who failed to yield right of way and struck and killed a man driving a moped Monday afternoon.
According to York County Coroner Sabrina Gast, 59-year-old Ray Crocker, of Rock Hill, was killed when his moped was struck by Stephen Kortheuer in a Volvo in the 400 block of Anderson Street, right in front of the York Technical College campus.
Rock Hill Police Department's Accident Reconstruction Team determined Kortheuer failed to yield right of way while making a left turn in front of Crocker.
First responders pronounced him dead at the scene. Police say Crocker was not wearing a helmet.
The driver of the Volvo was not injured, police said, but was charged with failure to yield right of way in an intersection.
