Queens University hosts Conference on Immigration Reform

Local immigration reform activists held a conference Friday night at Queens University of Charlotte.

Elected officials and members of the community turned out to hear panelists discuss immigrant issues,  and changes they think should be made in the federal and local laws.
 
Among their goals - bringing the issue of immigration reform back into public discussion. Officials say its about justice and human rights and finding a legal way for immigrants to be legal productive citizens.   
 
The event was sponsored by Newschannel 36, LiderRadio 1030 and La Noticia- The Spanish Language Newspaper.
Panelists included immigration attorneys, a representative of Glenmary Home Missionary, and activists from the local Immigration Reform for America group.
