CONCORD, N.C. – Police have arrested a school maintenance worker after he solicited nude photos from teen boys using Facebook, authorities said.
Michael Wayne Osborne, 40, or Concord was arrested on Friday after investigators said he posed as a 14-year-old girl and solicited nude photographs of teenage boys.
According to investigators, seven minors have been identified in the case.
The victims span beyond North Carolina, reaching across Cabarrus and Cumberland Counties and also extending into the state of Illinois.
Authorities said Osborne was employed as a grounds maintenance worker by Cabarrus County Schools, and coached athletic teams for middle schools throughout the county.
Osborne was already suspended by the school system prior to his arrest on Friday, authorities said. It was not immediately clear the reason behind the suspension.
In a statement to NBC Charlotte, school officials said Osborne was suspended with pay the same day as his arrest on Friday.
He was hired in May of 2007, his job duties detailed going from school to school as the facility management worker -- he was not assigned to one single school.
Osborne is facing a felony charge of indecent liberties with a child; his bond was set at $150,000 at the Cabarrus County Jail.
Deputies said they are working with the school system to determine if there are any additional victims. Cabarrus County Schools said they've also launched their own internal investigation.
