CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Two teenagers have been arrested after a carjacking and pursuit ended in a car crash in uptown Friday night. The search continues for a third teen involved in the incident.
The incident happened near an apartment complex off Nations Ford Road
According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, 16-year-old Cherish Moise is still on the run. Police say Moise and two other teens stole a woman’s car at gunpoint Friday night.
Police later learned the girls had a BB gun.
Highway Patrol spotted the car on Interstate 77 and followed it into uptown.
The car crashed on Trade Street in front of Time Warner Cable Arena just after 8 p.m. Two teens were taken into police custody. Moise ran from the scene, according to police.
The victim who was carjacked is reportedly OK. Her neighbors say their neighborhood was improving.
"I just moved over here. It used to be bad, but it seems to be cleaning up now. I didn't even notice something like that happen," said Dave Brown.
The two arrested are being held in Juvenile Detention. Police say they’ll probably stay there until Monday. They are both facing charges of common law robbery.
