SALISBURY, N.C. -- Nine dogs were killed in a fire at the Rowan Animal Clinic Sunday morning.

The incident happened at 4155 Statesville Boulevard around 1:30 a.m. at the Rowan Animal Clinic.  Rowan County fire officials tell us within a few minutes passersby were calling 911 and saying flames were coming out of the roof.

If took firefighters several hours to put the fire out because the fire was in the roof.  Nine dogs were killed in the fire.

Officials don’t suspect anything suspicious about the fire, and the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
