CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Emergency responders are covering calls across the Charlotte area due to the summer storms hitting our region this evening.

Calls for lightning strikes, flooding, water rescues and fires have been coming in to emergency crews since the storms began.

The Charlotte Fire Department responded to a two-alarm blaze on Tripper Lane around 7 p.m. and more firefighters were dispatched to a fire on Langhorne Avenue just 12 minutes later.

Not even areas inside were immune to the rain -- Chief Meteorologist Brad Panovich tweeted a picture of flooding in South Park Mall.

Our Facebook fans have been keeping us up to date with rain updates in their neighborhoods as well.

We've had reports of over 4 inches of rain near McKee and Providence Road, to less than half an inch in a 30 minute time span in the Davidson area.
