CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- One man is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries and another is under arrest after a shooting that shut down Lawyers Road for two hours.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police responded to the shooting just before 3 p.m. at the entrance to the Berkshire on Lawyers neighborhood, at Glenmont Drive in the 8500 block of Lawyers Road.
Police charged Tevin Troy Mayweather, 18, with attempted murder and possession of a firearm by felon.
Witnesses tell NBC Charlotte they heard a gunshot and saw young people in the street near the entrance, some trying to revive the victim.
An hour and a half later, police arrested Mayweather who lives on Glenmont Drive.
A police statement said the victim and suspect knew each other, and detectives aren't looking for any more suspects.
The victim, who has not been named by police, was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Mayweather is being held at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit Detective.
