CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A fatal hit and run accident shut down all inner loop lanes of Interstate 485 in south Charlotte overnight.
The accident happened around 11:50 p.m. Friday on I-485 near Pineville-Matthews Road.
Police say an SUV flipped sending six people to the hospital. A passenger in the SUV died. Highway
Patrol tells NewChannel 36 the passenger was 14-year-old David Conrad Bell Jr of Chester South Carolina.
Highway Patrol held a press conference Saturday afternoon asking for the public’s help identifying the driver who was involved in the accident. Investigators believe the hit and run vehicle involved is a white or silver passenger vehicle with damage to the right side of the car.
According to authorities, the people inside of the SUV ranged in ages from 6-years-old to 31-years-old. The group was traveling home to Chester from an AAU basketball game in Charlotte.
The other five passengers were transported to the hospital, but their injuries were not life threatening.
