CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A fire damaged an office building early Tuesday morning in south Charlotte.
Crews briefly shutdown Pineville-Matthews Road between Johnston Road and Carmel Commons to fight the fire, but the road is now open.
The fire broke out around 4 a.m. and seemed to be confined to the center of the building. The structure suffered smoke and water damage.
Investigators said the fire started due to an electrical issue in the middle of the building. The estimated damage to the building is at $500,000, according to officials.
Crews were able to get the blaze under control fairly quickly and no one was injured.
The owners of the building were on scene and said they have notified the tenants about the fire. Some of those tenants include a dentist, attorney and counselor.
