CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The tallest ride ever built at Carowinds suddenly stopped working early Saturday morning.
According to officials, the WindSeeker’s safety security system activated causing the ride to halt around 10 a.m. Saturday.
There were 25 riders on board when the incident happened. They were initially stuck at the top of the ride and then lowered to 30 feet above the ground where they waited more than two hours.
In a statement to NewsChannel 36, Carowinds said “our rides, maintenance and safety teams followed safety procedures to get the guests off the ride. No injuries were reported”.
According to Carowinds, each ride is inspected, check listed, and properly maintained daily.
