FORT MILL, S.C. -- A Fort Mill teen was killed Sunday morning when his car went off the road and struck a telephone pole.
The York County Coroner says the victim has been identified as 18-year-old Dakota "Cody" Quinton.
South Carolina Highway Patrol says Quinton went off the road near the intersection of Springfield Parkway and Gold Hill Road shortly after 2:30 a.m.
Investigators say Quinton lost control of his car in the curve of the road, went off the left side and then struck a utility pole and several trees.
Troopers say the speed limit is 55 mph along that stretch of road, but did not comment on Quinton's speed.
A toxicology report is under way.
Investigators say Quinton was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
No one else was hurt in the accident.
