GASTON COUNTY, N.C. -- Authorities in Gaston County made a million dollar drug bust during a routine traffic stop.
The Gastonia Police Street Crime Unit, along with the Cleveland County Sheriff’s department pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation near the Bessemer City Road exit off I-85.
They say a drug dog alerted them to 16 pounds of crystal meth, which has a street value of a million dollars.
"Crystal meth is not your routine narcotic. This drug affects people, makes some people violent or become extremely agitated. This drug itself destroys families. We took a lot of this drug off the street tonight," said Sgt. Rodney Aldridge of Gastonia Police.
Two out of state men are now in custody. Authorities have not yet released their names.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
