FORT MILL, S.C. -- A woman was arrested and charged with assault and battery after police say she refused to drop a knife in the parking lot of a Lowe’s Home Improvement store in Fort Mill.

Fort Mill police were called to 1640 SC 160 shortly before 7 a.m. Thursday to assist the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

When an officer arrived at the location he found a woman armed with a knife in the parking lot.  She refused the drop the weapon despite repeated requests, according to Fort Mill police.

According to a police report, the woman told officers, “Stay away or I will hurt you.”

A trooper approached the woman from behind and was able to knock the knife from her hand.

Police identified the woman as Pamela Kook.  She was arrested and charged with third degree assault and battery.
