Woman dies after boyfriend says she jumped from moving vehicle

CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- A woman was killed and her boyfriend arrested after a bizarre car crash turns into a death investigation for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

Investigators say 41-year-old Angela Freeman Kelly died in the accident that happened along East Independence Boulevard and Sharon Amity Road late Friday night.

Officers say, Kelly was riding as a passenger in her boyfriend's car.

The driver, 27-year-old Heath Eugene Frye was arrested for DWI and Possession of an Open Container.

Frye tells police he was having an argument with Kelly when she opened the car door and jumped out of the moving vehicle.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak with the Homicide Unit.
