Animals rescued from Louisiana flood find home in new state

On Friday a specially chartered plane was used to transport more than 125 pets rescued from floodwaters in Louisiana to the state of Oregon.

(KGW) An animal rescue group tasked with saving pets stranded in the Louisiana flood waters went above and beyond in a literal sense on Friday, flying a group of rescues from the flood-ravaged southern state to Oregon.

Cathy Nechak, president of Friends of Shelter Animals in Aloha, had reached out to the flight group Wings of Rescue to bring the pets to the Northwestern United States.

"I'm just extremely happy they got here safe and sound," said Nechak. "We're going get them home and all to bed and get them dinner and start their new life."

The animals had a little help along the way as well, when donors on Facebook raised the $15,000 needed to fund the flight to Oregon in just one day.
