CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The big budget cuts brought on by sequester are about to hit Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

At a meeting with parents Monday night in Matthews, Superintendent Dr. Heath Morrison talked about plans for next year's budget.

He said the district will feel the pinch of federal cuts, but just how bad it will be is still not clear.

"The only thing we know is we are going to get less federal funding because of the sequestration, although, how much that’s going to be and where we need to make adjustments, we have not gotten those guidelines,” he explained, “At the state level we are still working with those partners, at a local level we will start that process soon."

Morrison will make his budget recommendation to the board on April 9.

There will be more town hall-type meetings before the budget is adopted.
