RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The face of a powerful lobbying group in North Carolina says he'll leave his job at the end of the year.
Tim Kent has led the North Carolina Association of Realtors for more than nine years. Kent said Thursday he'll resign as association chief executive but remain available as a consultant to the group.
Kent led the group as it fought unsuccessfully in 2007 the Legislature's decision to let counties raise the local land transfer tax if voters approve the idea. No counties have agreed to a higher transfer tax.
State association President Sandra O'Connor called Kent one of the state's most prominent public policy advocates.
The association's political action committee is one of largest contributors to legislators.
