CONCORD, N.C. -- A company that earned a presidential visit earlier this year broke ground on a 150,000 square-foot manufacturing plant in Concord Thursday morning.
Celgard, a company that makes parts for use in lithium-ion batteries, plans to hire over 200 people to work in the building.
"We'll be a great corporate partner and in that way we'll certainly be a part of the community," said Mitch Pulwer, vice president of Celgard. "We'll be employing people here in Concord hopefully with very, very exciting jobs and a very exciting workplace."
President Barack Obama visited one of their factories in April and cited Celgard as a company that was both creating jobs while exploring clean energy.
The company received $49 million in stimulus money to create jobs .
