CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte Chamber of Commerce announced on Wednesday that Convergys is expanding jobs at two of its local facilities, adding hundreds of new positions.
The business process outsourcing global leader in providing customer care plans to spend $1.8 million to renovate the existing facility at 8600 McAlpine Park Drive.
The move will create more than 1600 jobs in the Charlotte area.
"The Charlotte Chamber congratulates Convergys on their significant expansion plans in the community," said Brett Carter, senior vice president and chief distribution officer of Duke Energy and Charlotte Chamber chairman.
"Convergys is one of nearly 50 call centers located in Mecklenburg County that employs more than 13,000 people," Carter continued.
The bulk of the new jobs at Convergys are for customer support associates who will provide general and technical support to clients through voice calling, email and web chat.
Jo Fuller, site leader for the Convergys contact center in Charlotte says, "We're looking for highly motivated individuals who can work from our contact center, providing great customer service and promoting our clients' products and services."
Fuller says the customer support associate position is a great stepping stone to a career in operations, recruitment and training.
