CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Crowne Plaza Charlotte Uptown will soon undergo a multi-million dollar renovation as its converted into a new Fairfield Inn & Suites.

JHM Hotels confirmed to NBC Charlotte on Tuesday that renovations will begin this fall.

The company says they plan to completely reinvent the hotel, with restorations touching every area including the 193 guestrooms, lobby, public areas and corridors.

The Fairfield Inn & Suites Charlotte Uptown is part of what JHM Hotels says is the next generation for the brand. Recently introduced by Marriot, the new Fairfield Inn & Suites will feature "bright, modern and inviting lobbies and smart, spacious guest rooms designed for travelers to get the job done while on the road".

Renovations are expected to be completed by February 2014, and will be reintroduced with its new name, Fairfield Inn & Suites Charlotte Uptown.

In June, the hotel changed names from CrownePlaza to the Charlotte Plaza Uptown Hotel.
