CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The things we use to power our digital lives need to be powered by real life servers, and a lot of electricity.

Google, Facebook and Apple all have massive data centers in the North Carolina foothills, each an hour or two from Charlotte.

So why here? How do they work?  And could we see even more tech companies here?
