ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- The Pisgah Inn on the Blue Ridge Parkway has closed in compliance with the federal government shutdown.
The Asheville citizen-Times reported (http://avlne.ws/GCazUI ) the operators of the inn have backed away from plans to defy the orders to close from the National Park Service.
The inn's managers had said Wednesday they would remain open in spite of orders from the park service to close because of the government shutdown. But general manager Rob Miller said Thursday the inn would be closing in compliance with instructions from the park service. He says there are no indications of a quick resolution to the funding dispute.
The inn operates in a government-owned building on federal government land.
