WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Time Warner Cable is expanding its operations in Lexington County, investing $24 million that's expected to create almost 650 new jobs during the next year.
The company said Friday that the new jobs are being created with an expansion of its telephone sales support and payment operations in West Columbia.
The expansion increases the number of jobs that the company provides in South Carolina by more than 50 percent. Time Warner Cable already employs about 1,300 workers in the state.
Gov. Nikki Haley said that the expansion is another indication of South Carolina's business-friendly climate.
The cable and internet company is currently hiring for the new jobs. It's planning to hold a job fair on Tuesday at its West Columbia offices.
