GREER, S.C. (AP) -- An official from the U.S. Commerce Department is scheduled to visit BMW Manufacturing to talk about bringing more manufacturing success to the United States.

BMW says U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce Rebecca Blank plans to visit the company's Greer facilities on Friday.

The tour comes days after a State of the Union address in which President Barack Obama discussed ways to attract more manufacturers to make investments here.

The president followed that up Wednesday with a trip to Asheville, N.C., where he said a Canadian-based automotive parts supplier became an area success story when it moved into a shuttered Volvo factory and pledged to hire hundreds of workers.

Obama said Linamar Corp. has hired 160 people so far. The company says it plans to create a total of 650 jobs.
