CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police say a team of bandits is robbing people and businesses from Charlotte to Concord.
Investigators say the robbers wait for the victims to walk outside of business, and they may even follow the victims for awhile before they strike.
"It ticks me off. It makes me angry to think it's OK to take money from people and they work had for what they got," said Denise Gill, who works three jobs to support her family.
At 6 p.m. Tuesday, Gill left a check cashing business in the 2000 block of Beatties Ford Road and was confronted by a man with a gun.
"'You have to give it up.' And I just looked at him, because I was thinking maybe it's somebody that I knew, maybe they are just playing a joke or something. Then I saw the gun and the bandanna and that's when reality set in," Gill said.
Gill was the last of the victims in a string of robberies. Police think the same suspects robbed the Family Dollar off Kimberly Glenn and robbed a man who had left another check cashing business off Albemarle Road.
"I don't think they were playing. It's not a game, so obviously they get out and have guns drawn on you," said one of the victims, who did not want to be identified.
Police think the suspects have been robbing people for weeks, including some holdups in Concord. So far, no one has gotten hurt, but officers are worried that might change.
"Somebody is going to get killed and these are young guys," Gill said. "They need to get out and get a job, find something constructive to do with their life because that is not it."
Police are looking for three or four men. Investigators say they have a good lead, but they are not releasing information because it might jeopardize the case.
